Hilary Hunt

Hilary Hunt is a national expert in financial education with expertise in curriculum development, teacher training, and financial education policy. Hilary has served as director of the Making Cents Project—a cooperative effort of the Pennsylvania Department of Education and Penn State University—since the project’s inception in 2011. In this role, she oversees the commonwealth’s K-12 financial education efforts including providing professional development for educators, curriculum consultation for schools and districts, and model instructional resources and frameworks. Hilary also serves as treasurer of the Pennsylvania Jump$tart Coalition.

Previously Hilary served as the Director of Financial Education for Pennsylvania under Governor Edward G. Rendell and Vice President for Programs for the Pennsylvania Partnership for Economic Education. As a consultant, Hilary has served a variety of organizations, including Discovery Education, American Bankers Association, CARE, Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation, Heinz Endowments, SIFMA Foundation, and the national Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy.

Hilary’s work is inspired by the time she spent in the classroom as a secondary math teacher. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary in Virginia and a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Hilary resides in Cumberland County with her husband Wade—a former personal finance teacher turned school district administrator, and their two teenage children.

 

Kevin Curry, Ed. D.

Dr. Kevin Curry earned undergraduate degrees in animal science and agricultural education, and a master's and Doctoral degree in agricultural education from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C. He taught high school agriculture in Randolph County, N.C., during which time he facilitated the chartering of a new FFA chapter and oversaw the development of barn, greenhouse and laboratory facilities for courses in animal science, horticulture, and biotechnology.

Kevin is currently an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Education in his fifth year on the faculty at Penn State. His primary teaching responsibilities lie in the preparation of preservice school-based agriculture teachers. Kevin is an advocate for cross-curricular studies and the potential agricultural education has in developing both the financial and science literacy of students. He serves on the PA FFA board of directors and on the PA Commission for Agriculture Excellence.

Kevin resides in the State College area with his wife, a middle school teacher, and their young daughter.

 

Fred LaPointe

Fred LaPointe serves as a FinLit Ambassador for the Making Cents Project. Fred curates content for the Making Cents PA Facebook Page and the teacher-only Facebook Group. Fred is a retired business education teacher with experience in various educational settings,  including parochial schools, vocational-technical schools, and adult education programs. He came to the field of education after two decades working in the technology industry including several startups. Fred has a passion for teaching personal finance and for making his lessons as interactive and engaging as possible. He has participated in numerous professional development opportunities related to financial education including the NYSE Euronext Teachers’ Workshops, Pennsylvania Governor’s Institute of Financial Education, and the Knowledge at Wharton High School financial education program.  

Fred served on the Pennsylvania High School Personal Finance iTunes U Course development team and has consulted on a variety of financial education projects.  Fred earned his teacher’s certification at Shippensburg University and holds both a bachelor's degree and a Master of Business Administration from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie-Mellon University.  Fred resides in Lebanon County with his wife. Together they have two daughters and recently welcomed their first grandchild.

 

Paige Rohrbach

Paige Rohrbach provides support to the Making Cents Project where she is responsible for archiving webinars, managing Act 48 requests, contacting schools about their financial education programs, and more. This work is in addition to her full-time academic load as a Penn State undergraduate student. Paige is majoring in Agricultural and Extension Education and aspires to obtain certification to teach agriculture in Pennsylvania schools. Paige is a graduate of Oley Valley School District where she was captain of the softball team and an active participant in FFA.
