Hilary has served as director of the Making Cents Project—a cooperative effort of the Pennsylvania Department of Education and Penn State University—since the project’s inception in 2011. In this role, she oversees the commonwealth’s K-12 financial education efforts including providing professional development for educators, curriculum consultation for schools and districts, and model instructional resources and frameworks. Hilary also serves as treasurer of the Pennsylvania Jump$tart Coalition. Previously Hilary served as the Director of Financial Education for Pennsylvania under Governor Edward G. Rendell and Vice President for Programs for the Pennsylvania Partnership for Economic Education. As a consultant, Hilary has served a variety of organizations, including Discovery Education, American Bankers Association, CARE, Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation, Heinz Endowments, SIFMA Foundation, and the national Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy. Hilary’s work is inspired by the time she spent in the classroom as a secondary math teacher. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary in Virginia and a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
